Check for Wood Rot on Home Exterior
With the nice warm weather, homeowners should be out and checking for signs of wood rot around the home. Check windowsills and frames for cracks, peeling paint, holes, or crumbling wood.
It’s important to determine the cause of wood rot so the problem can be fixed. For example, gutters dripping water on windows or the base of your doors, or down your siding need to be corrected. Use a pencil, pen, or screwdriver to gently poke on any suspicious spots. If it seems soft to the touch, there is likely to be water damaged wood and rot.
Address these problems early, before damage becomes more extensive.
